Wisconsin Operations

The sow farms operating in Wisconsin are Main Farm, Crouch 1, Crouch 2 and Scenic.  Main Farm has been a Genetic Nucleus farm since it was built in 1972.  Crouch Farms and Scenic have been multiplier farms since the late 70’s and early 80’s.

Main Farm continues its leading role in the industry today as the Genetic Nucleus farm for the signature boar for Triumph Foods in St. Joseph, MO, a producer-owned packing plant.  Triumph Foods is owned in part by The HANOR Company of Wisconsin, LLC.

In 1985, a 1,000 sow Daughter Nucleus farrow-to-finish farm near Marengo, IL was built.  This farm has played several roles over the years, but remodeled in 2016 to a 1,700 sow Global Animal Partnership (GAP) qualified farm.  This farm produces weaner pigs that eventually are finished for processing by Pederson Natural Farms.

In 2003, Cedar and Loreto farms were aquired and at the time of purchase they were producing boars for PIC.  Since the purchase, these two farms have transitioned to gilt multipliers for HANOR.

In 2013, The HANOR Company of Wisconsin, LLC purchased Peck’s Feed Mill.  This contract mill has been producing feed for the Spring Green farms since the early 70’s.

Oklahoma Operations

In 1994, Hanor had expanded its operation to Major County, Oklahoma. There, Hanor built a 2,500 Sow Farrow to Finish Boar Multiplier for PIC. The final construction of the Major Farm was completed in 1996. Major Farm was remodeled in 1999 to change it into a 5,000-sow farm specializing in commercial production and was also renamed Trails End 3.

Roberts Ranch in Mooreland covers nearly 5,500 acres, 24 sites (6 nurseries, 14 finishers, and 2 sow farms) each nursery and finisher has the capacity to house 10,000 piglets ranging.  Once the pigs are at least 150 days old they can be shipped to our partner’s facilities for further processing.

The Feedmill was purchased on September 1, 1998.  The mill is only used for the manufacturing of specialized feed for our livestock in Oklahoma.

The Corporate offices for HANOR were relocated to Enid, Oklahoma from Spring Green, Wisconsin in August of 2016 following construction of the new corporate headquarters located at 4005 E. Owen K. Garriott.

North Carolina Operations

In 1978, Hans-Dieter Alhusen purchased a farm in Nash County, North Carolina and constructed a 500 sow, farrow to finish facility.  This would be the first of our company’s farms.

By 1994 Alkro Farmland had grown to 4,000 sows on two farms; the original Whitakers site, as well as an Edgecombe County farm known as Shellbank Farm.

In 1994, a new venture was started; contract pig production.  This branch of the company was called “HANOR”. Three farms; CAJ One, Creekside, and Polly Ridge were quickly put into production. This added 18,000 sows.  The North Caroline Daughter Nucleus Farm was built to supply them all with replacement females, bringing the total sow herd to approximately 25,000 sows.

Mr. Alhusen was killed in a tragic car accident in the middle of this expansion phase in 1994.  Shortly after Mr. Alhusen’s death, the Hanor company brought in new partners and managers.  This included our current president, Mr. Myrl Mortenson.
