About the Role
The Farm Engineering Technician supports Iowa Operations by directly implementing and overseeing maintenance procedures for facilities owned by Bluestem Farms and managed by The HANOR Company. This role ensures that farm systems operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with HANOR production standards.
Success in this role requires an individual who has a Positive Impact on facilities and farm teams through reliable execution, advances projects together with leadership and farm staff, nourishes understanding by developing clear preventative maintenance protocols and training others effectively, outperforms by delivering projects on time and within budget, and remains disciplined in safety, compliance, and equipment standards.
The Farm Engineering Technician blends hands-on technical expertise with organized project management and proactive problem-solving to support the operational integrity of the HANOR system.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide routine preventative maintenance to ensure facilities operate efficiently and do not deteriorate.
• Diagnose and repair systems, including feed bins, augers, auger motors, feeders, switches, ventilation systems, plumbing, water wells, alarm systems, incinerators, and general facility repairs.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance protocols and troubleshooting guidelines.
• Train farm staff on maintenance procedures and oversee implementation.
• Oversee facility projects, including cost proposals, timelines, purchasing, subcontractor management, and budget adherence.
• Assist with new construction oversight as needed.
• Perform minor concrete work, remodeling, and equipment changes between turns.
• Test and inspect equipment between turns to ensure operational readiness.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and the ability to wear required PPE.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required; two to four years of related maintenance experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems in a livestock or industrial setting.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to organize and schedule/manage your time, and direct a project to completion
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills, including email, Word, and spreadsheets.
• Bilingual preferred.
• TN Visa holders are eligible to apply.
• Experience with livestock handling, manure application, and PQA+ certified helpful.
